Reptiles and Amphibians
These two groups of animals include a number that only a mother could love, animals that repulse and animals that petrify people. Most of the speices included would rather run and hide than have a close encounter with man. In the UK there are very few spieces living wild that could even harm us, but there seems to be an in built fear and distrust of all things scaley and slimey. Our reptiles and anphibians need our help and protection if they are to survive.
![]() Marsh FrogletMarsh frogs are found at a number of reserves in the London and surrounding area. This one was taken at the RSPB reserve Rainham Marshes in Essex. | ![]() Common FrogletTaken in somerset garden, where they are more than welcome to eat the snails and slugs, there are three ponds and common frogs and newts are at home. |
