ABOUT

A brief introduction

I am a Hertfordshire based  photographer, although originally from Somerset.  I currently live on the edge of the Lee Valley, moving to be closer the the sites I was regularly driving over an hour to reach. Although I currently work full time photography does play a part in future plans, and I'd like to resurrect the business I started back in the 35mm days, when there were not quite as many people offering tog services.

Having owned my own camera since junior school, at the age of 7 or 8 the school gave students in the photography club the opportunity to purchase a Russian 35mm film camera for the principally sum back then of £12, the club tutor sold film and did all the developing, I was hooked.

As I understood more about photography more i felt it was time to purchase a SLR, colour film was now also widely available, but processing was still expensive compared to Black and White. I saved for a couple of years and worked part time after school,  until I was able to purchase my first SLR, which was a Ricoh KR10 super with a flash gun and three lenses, out to a then huge  210mm. I was in seventh heaven, and due to price continued to shoot Black and White for a few more years.  I moved to London at the age of 20 for a proper full time job, I decided that it was time to step up and get a fully automatic SLR, so after reading a number of articles and discussing it with friends I purchased a Minolta Dynax 5 kit with an extra 70 -300mm lens and a 500mm mirror.

My hobbies at the time were shaping the direction of my photography, I was still an avid birder, but I was also spending many hours by lakes and rivers fishing on overnight and three day trips.

The Dynax 5 was replaced by a Pair of Dynax 7's and my lenses were gradually upgraded to better optics. The coming of digital photography was resisted for some time, my first fores was with an early Sony Cyber shot compact camera, DSLR's had been muted but none but the richest pro's. I was able to see straight away the advantage of the instant view, but still liked the results obtained with a 35mm SLR.

I now shoot with a Sony camera's, again due to the expense of changing glass, and although I still use elements I do have Lightroom and Photoshop CC which I find myself using more and more.

I hope you like the images I have decided to share, feel free to feed back on them and the website via the blog at the end of the site, or personally via the contact page. The galleries will scroll automatically after about 10 seconds, if you double click on any image, you can pause the show and enlarge the image, you will also be able to move backwards and forwards through the gallery.

This web site will change as and when, although the lay out is pretty much how I want it, like most I'm never really happy with what is up so will change or add to the images. I am also considering adding the business app so that images can be ordered directly.

Please note that all my images are my own and therefore copyright protected and use without my permission would be a breach of my copyright.

Please contact me if you would like to use one of these images for a project or article to discuss the matter.

Thank you for looking.
